What is Wicca?

Wicca is modern paganism.  It is an Earth-centered religion founded in England in the mid-20th century with roots in pre-Christian religions and shamanism.   Wicca focuses on the natural energies of the Earth and the Heavens while worshiping the Goddess and the God.  Wicca uses the elemental energies of the earth, air, fire, and water to create an interconnection with the forces that make up our Universe.  In times past, Wicca was practiced by small groups of people, or covens, who would gather to worship and practice the ancient rites.  Today, Wicca is practiced much the same way.

Who are Wiccans?

Those who practice Wicca.  While the term Wiccan and Pagan are often interchanged, not all Wiccans identify as Pagans, nor do all Pagans identify as Wiccans.   Many pantheons of Gods and Goddesses of the Celtic, Nordic, and Germanic traditions are honored in modern Wicca traditions today.
